Command An Army Classes

Direct answerYour class decides how your own character fights, not what your troops do. Three classes exist — Assassin, Sword & Shield, and Hammer. Changing class costs 50 gems, the same currency used for summoning, so a switch competes directly with pulling new units.
The three classes
| Class | Best use | Note |
| Assassin | Personal damage / burst | Fighter orientation; affects your character, not your squad |
| Sword & Shield | Balanced / survivability | Shield orientation; more personal defense |
| Hammer | Heavy / impact | Impact orientation; personal power |
Class is not squad composition
In Command An Army, your class changes your own damage and survivability — it does not alter the troops you bring or how they fight. So class choice is about your personal role in the fight, while squad building is about the Star Limit and unit mix.
Class change cost
| Action | Cost |
| Class change | 50 gems |
| Summon x1 | 50 gems |
| Summon x10 | 500 gems |
Because class change and summoning share the same gem pool, every switch is a trade-off with pulling new units. The class-not-squad distinction matters: your class does not make your army stronger by itself.
